The idea of a Company of Mary Laity Network with an international focus is first mentioned at the XIV General Chapter. A formal proposition is made at the XV General Chapter. The laity themselves express a connection with the charism and spirituality of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac, and they desire to find ways by which it can impregnate their lives and their daily tasks. Plans are made to carry out a joint formation, laity and religious: “Implement a formation program that will help them live this identity and journey together.”
The symbol of the “Net” describes these initial insights: begin with the groups already in existance or those that emerge in each local level; look for ways to coordinate these groups on a provincial level; encourage communication and interchange; maintain a global focus that combines the uniqueness of each context with the richness of plurality... flexibility, cohesion and unity are characteristics proper to the Network.
Journeying together helps us feel the need to live with greater depth and to express our unique identity; to live in ways that complement one another the charism of the Company of Mary in our following of the Lord Jesus in a Church that unites us all; helping one another to grow in our particular vocation, with the same spirituality, and living the ways of the Gospel.
